About Our Program
Y-E-S I CAN (stands for "You're Empowered to Succeed") is a nonprofit organization who utilizes a series of empowerment seminars, mentoring and life coaching to provide programs for individuals needing to overcome life’s obstacles. In order to achieve these goals, we have developed partnerships with other service providers, nonprofits, various court programs and officials to provide services and support needed to help our consumers succeed in life.
CAN provides workshops, life coaching ,mentoring literacy programs for
all who have various life obstacles to overcome throughout Northern Lower
Y-E-S I CAN's goal is to foster a commitment that will promote pro-social friendships, strong interpersonal skills, and reassert a sense of hope in the future. Only through a path of individual responsibility can a person reestablish their commitment to follow through through out their life, with a sense of pride and accomplishment.
With the issues in society today (break down of family units, problems within the classrooms, and the development of destructive habit), individuals have lost their faith in the possibilities that await them if they are going to be successful in putting their lives together. We want to stop the destructive cycle and encourage their success of being a caring, successful person and promote their best effort and reinforce personal respect.
Y-E-S I CAN is a program that is in direct response to the growing number of individuals that are either falling through the cracks, need additional guidance or are already entangled with the court system. The goal of the program is to identify people who are going through a turbulent transition and offer positive support systems to avoid the pitfalls that can derail their lives. The focus is slightly different at each level but the goal remains the same; empower the person to make positive changes in his/her life.
Y-E-S I CAN primary focus is with the court systems via Sobriety Court and Family Court. Providing support to those in these courts will show those who have been arrested that there are those in the community who truly care about them as individuals who want them to succeed in life. Giving hope through empowerment seminars, mentoring and life coaching is life changing. Tutoring and literacy is another program we are working on developing.
Y-E-S I CAN uses various fundraising events, conferences and informational fairs to educate the community, raise funds for programs and recruit volunteers for our programs and services.
Through the use of workshops, seminars and being paired with our mentorship program, the mission of Y-E-S I CAN is the pursuit of the following principles:
· Commitment: Y-E-S I CAN wants to inspire pro-social friendships, strong interpersonal skills, and instill a sense of hope in the future.
· Responsibility: The focus of Y-E-S I CAN is to empower individuals in establishing goals and following through on commitments.
· Possibility: Y-E-S I CAN wants to expand the perspective of individuals to make them aware of life's possibilities.
· Support: An individual is dramatically influenced by their support system. We want to surround them in a caring, inclusive learning environment.
Y-E-S I CAN's Vision Statement: To improve the learning and the lives of individuals through community partnerships.
Y-E-S I CAN's Mission Statement: Helping Families & Individuals overcome their life’s obstacles and rise to their full potential.
